Valentine's Day

It was a cold to us & windy weekend here in SoCal which made for a perfect
baking & cookie decorating weekend.   With Valentine's Day is around the
corner I wanted to make some basic cookies to bring to the office on Valentine's Day.

I have about 20 heart cookie cutters but I wanted to keep it simple so I picked two of the same cutter but in different sizes.   Do you ever bring out a bunch of cutters and totally overwhelm yourself?  I do that often.. so this year I'm trying to NOT do that to myself.

Since I was working on other cookie sets while doing these, I started by making white flower transfers  on wax paper.  I set them aside to dry and worked on other cookies.   A few hours later I started flooding my Valentine cookies and decided it would be fun to use the same technique I did on my Lilaloa February Challenge cookies on my heart cookies.   It's really easy to do and I'm thankful that The Bearfoot Baker posted a blog on what to do when you accidentally poke your cookie with your finger :)   It almost makes you feel like a rebel when you are breaking the nice "shell" of royal icing that has just started to form.    I actually used my baller tool from my fondant set to break my icing.  Once I was done with that I glued my flowers on the cookies with a little royal icing.

Hope you have a Happy Valentine's Day!
